It’s true, Girl Up Houston celebrates girls and women year-round, but this month is special. In honor of March being Women’s History Month, we decided to make our theme HERstory. The variety of works you’ll see showcase just how diverse women are. We are dedicated to celebrating heroines this month—both the mentors in our own lives, in the form of sisters and teachers, and those we all know, such as Malala Yousafzai. Along with this are nuanced takes on what it means to be an advocate for women. That is our ultimate goal in this issue, after all: to advocate for women by displaying their varied voices.
